Who We Are

The Social Welfare Department is one among few old hospital departments, providing services since the 1980s. With 47 qualified and dedicated Social Welfare Staff, the department operates to facilitate and support the treatment of patients presenting to the Hospital with social, economic, and psychological challenges.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assess the socio-economic and psychological circumstances of patients and intervene accordingly.
  • Provide counseling or psychotherapy services to patients and their families.
  • Communicate patient information to various stakeholders in the patient’s health team and connect patients and families with outside medical and non-medical resources.
  • Provide socio-medical education to individuals and families during and after treatment.
  • Participate and intervene during crises and disasters.
  • Implement government policies of cost-sharing to ensure access to medical services for all groups falling under cost sharing and share medical outlays for sustainability of services received.
