Professor Andrew Babu Musa Swai holds a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree in Internal Medicine. He has extensive research experience in diabetes and related cardiovascular disease. Before appointment to the present post in 2004, he worked as Director of Postgraduate Studies and Director of Information and Communications Technology at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (then Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences). He is also Chairman of the MNH Research Committee, responsible for developing the research function at the Hospital.

Dr. Rosina Lipyoga holds a Master Degree in Public Health (International Course in Health Development-Health Service Management & Policy) from Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium. She also holds a Masters Degree in Medicine majoring in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Doctor of Medicine from Muhimbili College of Health Sciences of the University of Dar es Salaam. Before appointed to the present post Dr. Lipyoga worked as Resident and Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with Muhimbili National Hospital from 1991 to date. From January 2005 to January 2008, she worked as Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. She was appointed to be Assistant Director

of Clinical Services since 2006. Dr. Lipyoga is involved on research studies especially Prevention of Mother to Child HIV transmission in collaboration with Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences. She is a recipient of various academic awards from secondary schools to university both undergraduate to postgraduate levels. Currently she is a second year student pursuing a Masters Degree of Business Administration at the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute [ESAMI] based in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Dr. Praxeda Atieno Ogweyo holds a PhD in Anatomical Pathology from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, she also holds Master of Medicine in Anatomical Pathology (MMED) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Dar es Salaam. She joined then Muhimbili Medical Centre in 1990 when she was employed as registrar at the Emergency Medicine Department. In 1992 she went for postgraduate studies in Anatomical pathology in which she completed in 1996. Since then she has been working with MNH as a Pathologist. In 2004, she was appointed to be Acting Head of Diagnostic Laboratory Department until January 2005 when she was confirmed as full Head of the Diagnostic Laboratory Department.

From December 2007 to September 2008 she worked as Acting Director of Clinical Support Services until October 2008 when she was confirmed as Director of Clinical Support Services

Sr. Agnes J. Mtawa has 18 years of experience in Nursing. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing and a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Dar es Salaam . She is a registered Nurse and Registered Midwife by Tanzania Nurses and Midwife Council (TNMC). Sr. Mtawa joined the then Muhimbili Medical Centre in 1991 as Assistant Nursing Officer. She also worked as Head of Training and Nursing Research within the Directorate of Nursing and later worked as

Eng. Gaudence Aksante holds a Bachelor Degree of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is Registered Professional Engineer with registration no. 1385 by Engineers Registration Board. Mr. Aksante joined the then Muhimbili Medical Centre in 1988 as a Civil Engineer. He worked as Head of Civil Engineering Department from 1990 to 2001. In 2002, he was appointed to be Chief Engineer up to 2003 where he worked as Director of Non Clinical Services. In 2004, Eng. Aksante was appointed to be the Director of Technical Service.

Mr. Pindani Alex Nyalile has 29 years of experience in the field of Procument and Supply Management. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute [ESAMI] and Maastricht School of Management (MsM). He has a CSP (T) from the National Board of Materials Management (NBMM), Advanced Diploma in Materials Management, Diploma in Business Administration, and Diploma in Leadership Program. He is an Authorized Supplies Professional. Before joining Muhimbili National Hospital in January 2007, Mr. Nyalile worked with Tanganyika Planting

Company (TPC) in Moshi as Senior Stores Officer –heading all stores operations and Arusha Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (AUWSA) in Arusha as Procurement and Supplies Officer responsible for all procurement and supplies functions.

Mr. Makwaia M. Makani holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree & a Masters Degree of Business Administration both from the University of Dar es Salaam. Mr. Makani has 17 years of experience in the field of Human Resources Management. He joined Muhimbili National Hospital in February 2005 in the capacity of Head Compensation and Industrial Relations Department. Mr. Makani was in October 2005 appointed to be the Director of Human Resources. Before joining Muhimbili National Hospital Mr. Makani has worked with the National Insurance Cooperation (NIC) at different levels as a Human

Resources Officer and worked with Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) as Head of Human Resources and Administration. He is member of various professional bodies such Board Member of Minimum Wage Board (Health Sector), Ministry of Labour and Youth Development, Member of Human Resources Management Forum of Tanzania and served as a Team Leader of MNH PSP, Private Sector Participation Project, which was under the President’s Office, Public Service Management.

Mr. Constantine Stephen Kalipeni is a Professional Accountant registered as a Certified Public Accountant in Public Practice- (FCPA) 656. He holds a Certified Accountant CPA (T) obtained in 1985. He is also a holder of an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy (PDGA) both from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM). He joined Muhimbili National Hospital as a Chief Internal Auditor in January 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Kalipeni was a Director of Finance and Administration of SIMU 2000 Limited from September 2001 to

December 2007, and a Director of Finance of Plant and Equipment Hire Company Limited between January 2000-August 2001. He has practiced as an Auditor CUM Accountant with a number of other organizations like;

Mr. Aminiel Buberwa Aligaesha is a Professional Journalist holding a Professional Advanced Diploma in Journalism from St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT). He is also a holder of a Masters Degree in Development Studies from Development Studies Institute of the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro. Mr. Aligaesha joined Muhimbili National Hospital in November 2007. Prior to that, he worked with Tanzania Coffee Research Institute as Communication Specialist.
