Budget and Final Accounts Unit

The Budget and Final Accounts Unit is responsible for preparation and review of Strategic Plan, Annual Plan and Annual Budget, preparation and review of management accounting reports and annual statutory financial statements.

Duties and responsibilities of Budget and Final Accounts are as summarized here below:

  1. Coordinate execution of functions which Final Accounts and Budget Unit is mandated to perform,
  2. Every month determine incurred but unsettled financial claims to establish accruals and payables,
  3. Prepare reliable, relevant and complete reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to assist management and other stakeholders in making informed decisions,
  4. Supervise closely to ensure that cash balances and balances of all other accounts are reconciled by 20th of every month,
  5. Facilitate and assist External and Internal Auditors to perform audit assignments by providing required data, information and explanations,
  6. Prepare and submit written responses to audit findings,
  7. Implement and closely follow up to ensure that auditors’ recommendations are timely and consistently implemented,
  8. Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and other relevant reporting requirements,
  9. Ensure that the fixed assets register (FAR) is updated every month,
  10. Coordinating preparation of budget, Strategic and Annual plan and monitoring adherence to budgetary controls,
  11. Prepare management accounting reports and statutory annual financial statements,
