Directorate of Clinical Support Services is made up with three functions departments’ namely Diagnostic laboratory, Pharmacy and Radiology. |

Diagnostic Laboratory Department: The Central Pathology Laboratory of Muhimbili National Hospital is a modern and state-of-the art laboratory which offers latest services by using advanced technologies. It has six units namely Clinical Chemistry, Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Micro-Biology/Immunology, Parastology, Histopathology, and Mortuary. It is a national reference laboratory serving a big portion of Tanzania. It is a Centre for HIV and Chronic disease management in Tanzania and Regional Hospital for more than 4 million inhabitants of Dar es Salaam Region and surrounding areas. |

The Lab plays a big role in generating money for long term for sustainability of reagents and other needs at MNH. It is the centre of excellence for HIV/AIDS care with improved quality and affordability of patient care, teaching and research. The trained staff and new equipment installed have significantly increased the capacity at the laboratory, including a hundredfold increase in capacity to process chemistry diagnostic tests and a fourfold increase in capacity to process haematology samples.
