2. Bacteriology:

Bacteriology performs tests such Blood culture, Urine culture, Urinalysis, Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), Swabs for culture, Gram staining, bacterial identifications and sensitivity testing. VITEK 2, BACT ALERT 3D, ERIC, AU –66 machines are used to perform these tests.

3. Molecular methods:

Molecular based methods include tests such as HIV-1 RNA and HIV-1 DNA.

COBAS TaqMan 48 Analyzer system is used for determination of plasma HIV-1 RNA whereas MagNaPure and GeneAmp 9700 PCR system is used for diagnosis of HIV-1 infection in children under 18 month old (HIV-1 DNA PCR).

Parastology: This section deals with examination of parasites in stool, blood and urine. The section also performs Urine for Bence Jones Proteins tests. It is equipped with modern microscopes and centrifuge machines

Histopathology: The section has modern tissue processing machine and automated tissue staining machine which in conjunction with best laboratory management practices, produces quality biopsy results within 3-5 days. Exfoliative cytology examinations procedures such as pap- smears are performed and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) both with a turnaround time of 1-2 days. Infertility workup is also done in this section including Male Fertility Test (MFT). The section also performs Barr body test for patients with ambiguous sex.
